Equivalent Summer Courses
Psyc 210 and 211 are the most frequently requested summer transfer courses. These courses are rarely offered at community colleges, but they are typically a required part of the curriculum of most 4-year Psychology programs. (A few community colleges are starting to offer Psyc 210 and 211 equivalent courses, so it might be worthwhile checking their catalogs). Not every program divides “methodology” into two 4-credit courses the way we do at JMU. The following table is provided to help you find schools that offer these courses in a way that is compatible with JMU’s curriculum. Catalog course descriptions (and often course syllabi) must be presented to the Undergraduate Director for consideration of transfer courses from institutions other than those listed below. Formal permission of one of the Assistant Department Heads of the Department of Psychology (Kevin Apple or Suzie Baker) is required to take psychology courses at other institutions for transfer credit to JMU, including those listed in these tables. To receive permission, complete a Transfer Credit Request Form and submit it to Johnston 223. Course descriptions and syllabi are not required for the courses listed below.
