Research Coordinator (Lab Manager) Position Available. Dr. Stephen LaConte, Dr. Pearl Chiu, and Dr. Brooks King-Casas at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute (http://research.vtc.vt.ed) in Roanoke, Virginia are seeking a research coordinator.  Their work centers on functional neuroimaging in healthy and clinical populations including those with traumatic brain injury, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder, and depression.  Applicants must have a BA/BS in psychology, biology, engineering, or related field, attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills, and must be proficient with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint or equivalent. Post Baccalaureate Fellowship at Blue Ridge Court Services. Blue Ridge Court Services in Staunton, VA is offering a post baccalaureate fellowship opportunity for a recent college graduate with a major in psychology, sociology, social work or criminal justice. Center for International Stabilization and Recovery. The CISR is looking for Sophomores and Juniors interested in becoming Editorial Assistants to conduct writing, editing, and research tasks for The Journal of ERW and Mine Action, the longest-running and leading international publication for research on landmines and explosive remnants of war. Successful candidates will work between 12 and 15 hours a week, and will contribute to and participate in other CISR activities and projects, such as research and support to assist with the international peer support programs for survivors of conflict and violence, CISR’s annual Post Conflict Recovery Week, and the Senior Manager’s Course, which hosts up to twenty international senior-level managers in mine action for a four-week course on the JMU campus. Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Children’s National Medical Center is currently recruiting applicants for a clinical research assistant position. This assistant will manage and coordinate research studies, child testing, participant recruitment, and data analysis, among other responsibilities. Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center. Match Corps. Match Corps of the Merrimack Valley near Boston, MA, is offering a full-time, 10.5-month urban education math tutoring fellowship in two high. The 50 accepted applicants will work during the 2012-2013 school year with two students at a time for five periods a day, and will have a personal caseload of 12 students all year long. Fellows will drive student achievement by providing individualized instruction, and build personal and meaningful relationships with urban students and their families during this year of service.  More information

Judge Baker Children’s Center. The Laboratory for Youth Mental Health at Judge Baker Children’s Center in Boston is currently is seeking a Research Associate. The RA will work on a number of research projects for the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Malnutrition on Health and Behavioral Development program and will be responsible for data entry, programming and statistical analysis, data coordination management, and results reporting in collaboration with the investigator. Applicants must be familiar with data management software, spreadsheet software, and will assist the Research Coordinators with monitoring and ordering supplies, grant and manuscript preparation, literature reviews and grant submission. Ivymount Autism Program. The Ivymount Autism Program is a center-based model for education and treatment in autism located in the metropolitan D.C. area. Specialized Youth Services of Virginia. Part-time and full-time positions in a therapeutic after-school program are available in Harrisonburg. Behavioral Staff Members will assist the program manager in supervising and directing emotionally disturbed children and adolescents, monitor client's behaviors, provide direct interventions, and transport clients in program vehicles. Preferred candidate will have a minimum of two years of college. Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, be able to deal successfully with aggressive behaviors. Tidewater Regional Group Home Commission (TRGHC). The Tidewater Regional Group Home Commission is a regional agency, whose mission is to operate community-based programs for children who are at risk of coming before or have already come before the juvenile and domestic relations district courts. TRGHC operates as part of a continuum of care to seek opportunities to collaborate with other service-providing agencies to help clients develop the skills necessary to lead productive, law-abiding lives. US Census Bureau. The US Census Bureau frequently hires Psychology Majors for positions at their headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. They are currently recruiting for Analysis/Statistician and Mathematical Statisticians. To qualify as an Analyst/Statistician, the applicant must have a Bachelor's degree that includes 15 credit hours of mathematics and statistics combined. To qualify as a Mathematical Statistician, the applicant must have a Bachelor's degree that included 24 Credit hours of mathematics and statistics combined, of which JMU Psychology Majors have at least 11 credit hours completed from Psychology requirements alone. Wediko Children’s Services. Wediko Children’s Services is a non-profit agency with over 70 years of experience dedicated to children whose learning, social development, and self-direction is lagging.  During the summer months, Wediko operates its New Hampshire Summer Program, an academic residential treatment setting for children with serious emotional and behavioral disturbances (SED). Year round, they conduct the Wediko School & Treatment Program, a residential program that provides therapeutic and educational services to boys ages 6 to 21 with emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.  Each year, the Summer Program offers paid internships to students from universities and colleges across the nation. These interns not only enable the success of 145 at-risk youth, but also benefit from ample opportunities for personal and professional growth.  Contact Elizabeth Morrison (emorrison@weidiko.org) with any questions. Yoder House. Yoder House often has full- and part-time Aid positions available to provide personal care services for four individuals with developmental disabilities. There are nine residencies and two day-programs in the Dayton, Harrisonburg and Broadway area. Day, evening and overnight hours are usually available. Selected applicant will perform household duties, complete daily paperwork, and assist with community integration. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience for those wishing to become social workers, counselors, teachers, or other types of human service workers.
