The Vision and Perceptual Neuroscience Lab at Stanford (http://vpnl.stanford.edu ) seeks a Lab Manager. The Lab Manager will support all aspect of research for this lab, which studies the neural correlates of visual perception. Research responsibilities include conducting fMRI scans, programming and running behavioral experiments, design & programming of fMRI experiments, participating in data analysis (behavioral and MRI data), assisting in subject recruitment and coordinating experiment and scan schedules. Responsibilities also include maintenance of files and records, coordinating and attending weekly meetings, software installation & maintenance of lab computers and printers, ordering lab supplies and maintaining inventory. Minimum duration of the position is 1 year. Qualifications: BA/BS and previous research experience is highly recommended, as well as previous experience in programming in Matlab or C. Working knowledge of Mac, Linux, and Windows operating systems required. Some experience with fMRI is a plus. Outstanding organizational and communication skills are essential. Responsive Management
Responsive Management (http://www.responsivemanagement.com ), a nationally recognized public opinion and attitude survey research firm specializing in natural resource and outdoor recreation issues is seeking a survey research analyst. The survey research analyst is involved in all aspects of the survey research process, including research design, survey development, sampling methods, coordinating data collection, data cleaning, data analysis using advanced statistical techniques, and assessment of survey reliability and validity. Responsibilities also include managing large databases; coordinating data analysis using SPSS, Excel, and proprietary Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) software developed by Responsive Management; and coordinating with other statisticians and technical writers to produce reports of survey research results. This is a full-time position. Qualifications: BS or BA required, Masters or Ph.D. preferred. Strong educational background in survey research and statistics. Qualified applicants must have experience with SPSS, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word. Applicants should have previous experience with survey research and data analysis. The ability to communicate statistical concepts to non- statisticians is also a must. Healthy Families of Page County Virginia is seeking a Family Resource Specialist (FRS) and Family Support Worker (FSW) Supervisor. Healthy Families Page County is based on a national program model that provides education, resources and support to the most vulnerable first time parents in a community through assessment and intensive home visiting. The Family Support Worker Supervisor and Family Resource Specialist: Provides ongoing reflection supervision for FSWs; interviews and assesses needs of first time pregnant and new mothers and their families to determine eligibility for Healthy Families intensive home visitation services; works with students from a variety of departments to accomplish the program goals; works with quality assurance and program evaluation aspects of the program. Qualifications include a wide range of knowledge about: Children development, prenatal through age 5; Parent-child attachment; Family-centered and Strengths-Based Practice. Virginia Center for Substance Abuse Prevention
The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), is sponsoring a Prevention Fellowship Program for qualified students and graduates who wish to pursue careers in prevention. The Prevention Fellow for Virginia will be selected through a competitive process and assigned to work 32 hours per week in Prevention Services, in the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services. The level of work required for the Prevention Fellowship Program is most suited to an individual with an undergraduate degree in social work, counseling, education, or public health or a graduate student in one of those areas. The award for the fellowship is $35,000, does not include benefits, and taxes are the responsibility of the student. Envision is seeking Event Coordinators to fill full-time positions that will begin in April and conclude in August. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who generally is on break/holiday during the summer. These are entry-level, event planning / management opportunities for energetic and passionate college grads. Virginia Commonwealth University
Two full-time Pediatric Research Assistant positions are available on a NIH-sponsored grant. The grant focuses on instruction in family teamwork skills for children with Type 1 Diabetes and their parents. The project is housed in an APA-approved program of Clinical Psychology, with a focus on Child and Pediatric Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Assistants will be involved in a wide range of research activities including data scoring and entry, preparation of study materials, and tracking participant progress through the study. In addition to computer and organizational tasks, other opportunities may become available for patient and family contact including phone and in-clinic interviews, depending upon applicant skill level and experience. RA’s will attend weekly lab meetings, interact with and be supervised by clinical psychology graduate students and the project principal investigator, a Child Clinical Psychologist. Other lab members include undergraduate RAs. Research assistants will have the opportunity to learn the scholarly literature related to parental involvement in disease care to optimize behavioral and pediatric outcomes. Participants will be part of the Diabetes Adolescent Research Team (DART) and will review weekly research articles related to the project. Research assistants may elect to assist with ongoing student research projects and may have the opportunity for involvement in dissemination of research information through academic presentations at conferences or via publications. Preference will be given to applicants with a B.A. or B.S. in psychology or a related allied health field. Positions are 12-months with annual renewal possible. Salary and benefits are competitive.
