Graduate/Research/Teaching Assistantships (GAs/RAs/TAs)
- All full time graduate students are encouraged to apply for a position as a graduate assistant, research assistant or teaching assistant. Applicants may be awarded positions in a variety of different offices throughout the University.
- In Psychology, graduate assistants and teaching assistants help faculty in the Department of Graduate Psychology and the Department of Psychology with courses and research. GA, RA and TA positions carry tuition waivers and a stipend.
- Students must apply for these positions by completing forms available from the graduate secretary in the Department of Graduate Psychology (as well as the application required by the College of Graduate and Professional Programs). The deadline for applications for the following year is usually in February. First year students may apply for GA or TA positions when they submit their application documents. The selection process is usually completed before the end of the spring semester.
- Research Assistant positions are available through some of the funded research programs and applications for these should go directly to the faculty member who is the principal investigator on the project.
- A full course load for GAs, RAs and TAs is 9 semester hours. GAs, RAs and TAs in the Department of Graduate Psychology work on their assigned duties approximately 20 hours per week.
