Dean Jerry Benson is 2005 winner of the Peabody Distinguished Alumnus Award
Please join me in congratulating JERRY BENSON who was recently selected as the 2005 recipient of the Peabody College Distinguished Alumnus Award. Peabody College at Vanderbilt University is the 5th ranked graduate school of education in the nation according to the US News & World Report 2006 survey.
Dr. A. Jerry Benson, is Dean of the College of Integrated Science and Technology at James Madison University, and a member of the Department of Graduate Psychology faculty. Dean Benson regularly teaches graduate statistics classes for our counseling and college student personnel administration programs.
The award is presented annually to a Peabody graduate who has made outstanding contributions to his or her chosen field. Other criteria include a reputation of excellent character, a respected and ethical work record, as well as national and international recognition for achievements.
"It is clear from your years as educator and researcher, and from the glowing recommendations from two of your colleagues, you are extremely worthy of this award," wrote Camilla P. Benbow, Patricia and Rodes Hart dean of education and human development at Peabody, in a letter to Benson. "You embody and exemplify the level of commitment and integrity Peabody strives to instill within its student body, faculty and staff."
