Virginia Outstanding Service Award for adjunct faculty member Madeleine Dupre

Dupre AwardThe Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents in Staunton, Virginia, has been awarded the 2008 Outstanding Service Award By the Office of Child and Family services, Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services. This award was given in recognition of the center’s extraordinary accomplishments in providing integrated treatment of mental health and substance use disorders in adolescents. CCCA Program Director, Madeleine Dupre, was presented the award at a ceremony held during the Virginia Summer Institute of Addiction Studies in Williamsburg. Malcolm King presented the award on behalf of DMHMRSAS and described the Commonwealth Center as “…a leader and trailblazer in developing services for children and adolescents, especially adolescents impacted by substance abuse and mental health disorders”. He credits the Center for developing a system of care “…that responds to the needs of adolescents not only through direct care but through training and research” and adds that program staff has “conducted cutting edge research on the impact of co-occurring disorders on adolescents.”
