Creating Hope and Resolve In Troubled Times: Crisis Intervention Skills for Play Therapists

Featuring Drs. Anne Stewart and Lennie Echterling from James Madison University.

Join other mental health practitioners to learn a model of crisis intervention that supports and enhances the resilience of children and families who have experienced a disaster or personal crisis. The conference will provide an introduction and practice in culturally sensitive play-based crisis intervention techniques to promote hope and resolve with children and families. (You do not have to practice or be familiar with play therapy to benefit from the workshop.)

When a crisis occurs, such as a natural disaster, act of terrorism, or personal catastrophe, children and families are left with a sense of loss, sorrow, and disbelief. However, immediately following such an event the victims become survivors. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce a crisis intervention framework, as well as specific techniques for mental health professionals to use in crises.
