Biographical statement

I am married, have 2 daughters and live on a small farm in Augusta County where we have raised cattle, Arabian and Quarter Horses and Labrador Retrievers. I taught social studies at Robert E. Lee High School before becoming the Director of Guidance at John Lewis Junior High School. When the junior high school was converted to the new Lee High School, I moved to Shelburne Middle School as the Director of Guidance. After 33 years of service in the Staunton School System I retired but continued to work with the city counselors as well as other school counselors in the surrounding areas. I have taught School Counseling, Classroom Management, and Consultation and Supervision for school counselors at JMU and also have worked with Practicum and Internship students. Socializing with people and outdoor activities including gardening and reading are my favorite activities. You will find me promoting membership in our local and state professional counseling organizations, CVCA, VSCA and VCA, and encouraging networking among area counselors.
