Biographical statement
I was raised in Roanoke, VA, and I grew up in a Irish-Italian family. I became interested in counseling during my undergraduate work and have enjoyed working with hospice and hospital populations, children and their families, and diverse women. In working with a variety of client populations, I recognized the need to be better-versed in the integration of psychological and spiritual themes, as so many clients were trying to find the connection between the two concepts / experiences. I have dedicated much of my professional life to the study of these issues and I also have continued to work with children and women. My latest training in "mindfulness" has served me well as I mother an active toddler, Benjamin, who keeps me on my toes as often as possible. I am married to Andy who also is a trained counselor.
