Lisa Ellison Wins JMU’s “All Together One” Award
Lisa Ellison, a student in our Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program, is receiving the James Madison University “All Together One” Award. The JMU chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honors Society will honor Lisa at a noon ceremony on Tuesday, April 10 at the JMU Commons.
Established in 2000, the “All Together One” Award recognizes JMU students, staff, faculty and other community members who exemplify the motto of the university – “All Together One.” Each year, the winners are selected on the basis of building community, inspiring others, and working for the common good. In her honor, a stone bearing Lisa’s name will be placed at the Commons.
One of the unique contributions that Lisa has made is organizing the Out of the Darkness Walk for the American Federation for Suicide Prevention. This event, the first ever to take place in the Shenandoah Valley, included many participants who had lost a loved one to suicide. The walk was such a success that Lisa is now organizing another one, which will take place on April 22.
