The Northeastern Research Association (NERA) Conference 2009 provided yet another excellent educational experience for JMU students in the Assessment & Measurement Ph.D. program. This year we were represented by 6 current doctoral students, 4 alumni from the program, and 6 faculty members. The group of current doctoral students who attended the conference gave a total of 8 presentations. Several students and faculty members also served as discussants and chairpersons of paper sessions. One of our doctoral students, Megan France, was presented with the Distinguished Paper award. In addition to scholarship, students and faculty also demonstrated our commitment to professional service. Current doctoral students held positions on the Membership Committee and the Graduate Students Issues Committee, and faculty member Dr. Sara Finney participated as a member of the Board of Directors for NERA. Overall, the level of participation in this year’s NERA conference was a clear sign of the impact of JMU’s commitment to high-quality research.
